Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at aipcaptaindan@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

We use a 2023  239 DFS Keywest.

Our boat has a large permanent top that covers the middle of the boat. From May 1st until October, we add a Bimi top, which will provide shade from just before the bow or front of the boat all the way past the rear seats. Everyone on the boat will be able to be in the shade if they so desire.  The bow of the boat is in the open for the sun lovers.

The boat has a small bathroom with a flushing toilet and fresh freshwater sink. Great for kids, think of it for emergency use for full-grown adults. Many have used it, especially after the 3rd glass of wine.

We have 13 Life Jackets on board; additional life jackets are accessible before boarding. They are all Coast Guard-approved and range in size from infant to adult XXXL.

For Sandbar trips, we recommend bringing water shoes, towels, and sunscreen.  For all trips, sunscreen and light jackets should be considered.  We will bring Water, Soda, Gatorade, and light Snacks on all trips.  We carry many sizes of water shoes on board.

You can bring light alcohol and  food keeping in mind if we are not a party boat. We bring water, soda, Gatorade  and light snacks

I do not consider myself a fishing charter captain. If you are looking for a serious fishing trip I would suggest hiring one of our professional fishing charter captains. Having saying this I do enjoy helping families catch their first fish. I will consider a modification to the trip to include what I consider as light fishing.

If you read my blogs you will note that I do travel. Please read the Key Largo post from August 2022. For about the cost of a rental I will consider trailering and captaining the boat in Key largo for a several day trip, mostly during the winter/spring months.

Choose which package or trip will work for you. If you have any questions, feel free to call Captain Dan at  904-234-2053 or email aipcaptaindan@gmail.com .   Captain Dan will send you a confirmation text or email with the links to the boat ramp and any other needed details. If you are having problems booking due to an non availability please call and we may be able to adjust the schedule.

We very much enjoy what we do. Please let Captain Dan know if the trip is a special occasion. Including whether there are children on board. Sometimes we can come up with fun things to help make the trip special. Anniversaries, Bachelorette, Birthdays, and engagements. If you have small children, you may note the books. Captain Dan and his five mates finding baby dolphin Donnie. One is a first-time book. The second is an activity book that goes along with the first book. The mates are my grandchildren.  I will be happy to sign the books when you are here. You can order them on the website or Amazon.

We  sell Gift Certificates. They sell for $50.00 $100.00 and $150.00  and for a trip in full. The certificates are a professional looking certificate that do not expire and come with a letter from Captain Dan in a high end looking envelope. You can also call Captain Dan at 904-234-2053

You can order the certificate by emailing aipcaptaindan@gmail.com and provide .

A cancellation Policy is important to keep our prices competitive and fair to our customers who in many cases are visiting us for a short period.  The policy is as follows:

  1. Cancellation for any reason more than 48 hours in advance  100% refund.
  2. Cancellations between 48 hours and 24 hours for any reason 50% refund unless agreed to.
  3. Cancellation less than 24 hours in advance is nonrefundable unless mutually agreed upon with the Captain.  It is Captain's discretion to allow a reschedule or refund.

Weather guidelines: Safety is our first consideration.  The Captain will have full and final authority on this.

  1.  Thunderstorms to be clear of the area. The Captain will use radar and current weather reports to determine the safety of the trip. If the Captain determines the trip can not be done within an hour and a half of the scheduled time. The trip will be canceled and the customers will be offered a full refund or a reschedule.
  2. Winds will be below 20 kts continuous. Short gusts above 20 kts will be Captain's discretion.
  3. No continuous rain.
  4. No temperatures below 55 unless agreed upon.

Cancellations must be in an email to aipcaptaindan@gmail.com or texted to 904-234-2053

Our tours are a boat rental with the captain included.  Our boat is not available for your personal use.

Our captain does accept tips, and they are greatly appreciated. Tipping is left up to the individual, but as a general practice, 15% – 20% of the trip cost is the common gratuity in Florida.
